GAPP Introduction and Welcome

Hi, welcome to Jim and Krista Juczak's GAPP trip 2007. Seventeen students plus Lisa Juczak, 10, from South Jefferson Central and Belleville-Henderson Central Schools have banded together to spend the next month in Emden, on the North Sea coast bordering the Netherlands. Our partner school is Johannes-Althusius Gymnasium in Emden.

We have left Syracuse and New York State behind, and are waiting in Detroit to board our flight to Amsterdam. Tomorrow morning, when we arrive in Amsterdam we will transfer to our last plane to Bremen. Our GAPP host school teachers will meet us at the plane, and we will travel the final leg by bus to Emden. Expected arrival time is noon GMT+ 1 (6 AM Eastern).

Expect regular student journal entries and photo albums. The trip is from July 2 through 24.

Krista and Jim,

Have a great time in Germany! When you come back we will have to figure a time to come down in August to do a little taping. The more I have been talking to some others, and they would like to come down and talk with you and Steve If possible.. Really cool ideas.

Hi Krista, Jim, Lisa and all-
I hope everything is going smoothly and that the experience is a good one for all.
I drive by Woodhenge on my way home from work everyday. It seems that everything is in tact there, as I take a passing peek at 30 miles an hour (more or less)...not quite as fast as the Autobahn though, I'm certain of that!
I've heard from my son a few times via email. It sounds like the food and excursions are very pleasing to him, and his host family has not felt the need to slap a "return to sender" label on him just yet. God bless the host families and all of you travelers...
We're thinking of you and hope that all are having a wonderful time in Emden.
Regards to all.

Hi,
this is Eric Grose (and wife Janet, son Connor (11), daughter Alexis (9)).

We visited Woodhenge and Phil was kind enough to show us around. Thank you, Phil. We'd like to stop by again later in our travels. We have been touring the country with a travel trailer, visiting communities to find the right fit.

Your place looked great!

Eric Grose
